The original Nature Club started when I was 8 years old. My family had just moved to Wisconsin from Illinois and I had my girl friends come up to visit me for a week at a time. I was thrilled to take them out to the woods and show them plant life and animals that they were not familiar with. When they returned home I sat diligently at my Mom's typewriter, with loads of carbon paper in between pages, and typed out "tests" about Nature that I mailed to my friends. Needless to say, I never got a test back, despite the due date I put on them. I fired them all from the Nature Club. Later on I realized they probably had no idea that they were even in a club and I am sure they were not expecting to get a test in the mail! Not exactly what they wanted for summer vacation!
Don't worry; the new Nature Club does not include tests!
The new Nature Club was started in 2002 to share photos with friends and family members. It has since turned into a huge and growing list of people, most of whom I have never met in person. The Nature Club is my way of giving back to you what Nature presents me with in the field every day. Not all people get the opportunity (and some might not wish) to sit in the swamp covered in mud at sunrise, watching shorebirds take a bath. So I bring these images to you through the Nature Club.
The Nature Club is free, fun, and my members enjoy the serenity it brings to their lives.
