On Lake Geneva early this morning. As I looked through my lens the "waves" of snow reminded me of sand but the harsh winter temperatures assured me that it was indeed snow. I loved the definitive lines in this scene and I paid particular attention to capturing them by stopping down my lens. Levis Mounds, Hatfield, WI. The first time I laid eyes on this cliff I had been mountain biking with a friend in the trails here. We got off our bikes to sit atop the cliff and marvel at the vastness below. We could see for miles. The wind took my hair and gently nursed it against my cheeks and I felt the chilly excitement of freedom standing here. From then on, whenever I came to Levis to mountain bike, run or photograph, I felt the need to get up to this cliff and stand for awhile. Once I laid down beneath the beloved tree here and fell asleep. I meditate here and I can still be drawn back just by the mere thought of this place. It's a spiritual place for me, a place that my soul feels uniquely drawn to. The patterns that form within ice are amazing. This water is home and fishing grounds to many waterbirds, herons and even one kingfisher in the summertime ... at least for now. (developers have their mark on this land). This pattern along with the snow flakes formed a circle and an intersection.
