Just as the Midwest thought Spring was upon us, a late March snowstorm proceeded to lay 12 inches of snow upon the ground. While many were disgrunted by the lingering winter, I made my way into the thick blanket of snow to discover prize pictures awaiting me. This female cardinal is one of several who were feeding nearby and then perching to rest before feeding again. The low contrast day highlighted the details of the female cardinals feathers and color and the falling snow added to the picturesque scene.
