"Of course, there will always be those who look only at technique, who ask, 'how,' while others of a more curious nature will ask 'why.' Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information." Man Ray

Using a telephoto lens I moved in closer to focus in on the whispy swirls that added a painterly effect to the clouds.

Just as no snowflake is the same, no sunrise or sunset is the same either. What makes me really stop in my tracks with wonder is the way the scene changes from moment to moment. One great moment turns into another, and another, and another. The clouds always add drama to the light that the setting sun brings. This scene gave way to the setting sun below while simultaneously displaying a dramatic scene of blue sky and clouds above.

Dear ##SubscriberName##,

The sky sometimes seems to me to be one of the last great frontiers, a bit more void of billboards, development, and other human intervention. I find myself gazing with admiration as Nature orchestrates changing bands of color across her painted sky at dawn and dusk - and as she weaves a tapestry of clouds to add shadows and highlights to her painterly scenes. My newest online gallery is titled "Sky"-- dedicated soley to a growing body of fine art photography which honors the expanse, the greatness, and the moods of Nature's sky.
The quotes that I picked for this newsletter along with these images I felt went together. A quote, a poem, or a picture often speaks a novel in a single sentence or in a simple image. Sometimes words, when spoken, say nothing at all or get tangled in interpretation. The language of an image, though silent to the ears, speaks to all people - if we listen with more than just our senses.
As I experienced the moments that these images relay, I felt an overwhelming sense of limitlessness. The old saying, "the sky's the limit" is exactly that - the sky goes on and on and on! I felt inspired and full of creativity, tapping into my tools of photography to aid me in "holding" some of the artful renditions of what nature was painting before my eyes. The scene kept changing and evolving and as my imagination sensed figures in the clouds I composed with the chill of winter air tickling my breath.
Enjoy!
Yours in Nature,
Kristen
